We believe that the Great Commission Jesus gave to his disciples in Matthew
28:18-20 also applies to us. It is through the organization of Womans Missionary
Union that we can carry out the Great Commission. Not only can we be involved in missions
locally, but we can actually go and do missions on a national and international level.
As we pray and give to missions, we form a partnership with our missionaries
and actually extend ourselves around the world through Christ and the power of prayer.

Womans Missionary Union
After the summer break, Women on Mission groups start back up again for
the new church year. If you have not been involved in the Womens Ministry of our
church, we encourage you to come and join us in supporting missions in our community and
around the world. Please watch the weekly bulletin for updates and further information
regarding meeting times for our various groups.

WMU Update

June 1, 2000
Judy Zach, WMU Director
Mission Organizations had their last meeting for the
summer on May 28.
The women’s groups continue to meet. The quilters took a
field trip to “Quilt Trails” for a demonstration on their commercial
quilting machine. There were five in attendance.
Enterprisers are planning an October trip to Russia to
assist in training Sunday School workers, lead VBS and a women’s
conference. The men who will also be involved with this trip plan to
provide construction or maintenance type support.
The Women’s Bible Study group has almost completed its
study “Until Christ is Formed in You”. Women on Mission led in the
preparation of 30 survival bags for students for finals week. The students
received them on April 30.
Ten women from UBC attended the Women On Mission
Celebration in April. It was the first time for six of the women and was a
great opportunity for fellowship, spiritual renewal and an opportunity to
learn new things! Conferences such
as: “Dealing with Difficult People”, “Heart Call” - personal witnessing and
“Discipline in the Home” were offered.
The On Mission Celebration was successful and we really
enjoyed hearing from our missionaries who are serving in such places as:
Tanzania, Israel, North Dakota, New Mexico and here in Alaska. The Hispanic
mission and the Chinese Fellowship also participated in the conference.
Annie Armstrong Offering received: $3,896.
